About the role

We are seeking an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to join our Energy and Power team in Boston, MA; Cary, NC; Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; or Ft. Worth, TX. The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, transforming the utility landscape to enhance safety, reliability, and sustainability. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Transmission & Distribution (T&D) operations in North America and is looking for an Entry Level Overhead Transmission Line Engineer in its Energy & Power Group to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and utility modernization to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with our regional and global Transmission & Distribution (T&D) delivery teams to support our utility/developer clients and operations teams as we expand our energy transition portfolio.
  • Develop design deliverables for utility upgrades including greenfield/brownfield projects, and developer interconnection facilities.
  • Prepare project deliverables under the direction of the project lead, demonstrating excellent communication and technical writing skills paired with technical knowledge in overhead transmission line design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite applications and Auto CAD, and structural design software.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • 1 - 2 years relevant professional experience with overhead transmission line engineering design.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity with structure design and foundation design fundamentals.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform field visits and walk-downs as required for client projects and provide engineering support for clients through the construction.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $101,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
