Entry Level Operator
HF Sinclair Asphalt in Glendale, AZ is seeking an Entry Level Operator to learn and assist with production and manufacturing operations under close supervision.
About the role
This position involves assisting with daily production activities, quality control, inventory management, and shipment coordination. The role ensures adherence to facility housekeeping objectives, asset maintenance, and compliance with HollyFrontier EH & S policies.
Responsibilities
- Assists with visual tank gauging to verify automatic systems.
- Performs general plant cleaning.
- Assists with maintenance tasks.
- Assists with opening and closing of valves for production.
- Loads and unloads trucks and railcars.
- Assists with paperwork involving basic math skills.
- Completes special assignments or tasks as directed by supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum of six months to one year of relevant work experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and computer skills.
- Mechanically inclined with entry-level knowledge of tools (hand tools, power tools) and equipment (e.g., forklift, tractor, man-lift).
- Must complete all required certifications and training for the job level and demonstrate competency in basic tasks under direct supervision.
- Basic reading, writing, and communication skills (written and verbal).
Work Conditions
- Outdoor-based role with up to 5% travel by land and air.
- Works in a petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant, and outdoor environment, including exposure to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, and confined spaces.
- Subject to varying temperatures, weather, and road conditions.
- Must be available for a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
Physical Requirements
- Requires standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking, hearing, and visual inspections.
- Must make precise hand and finger movements, reach or grasp, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must push/pull up to 50 lbs and climb up to 48 ft.
- Ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles; valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
- Must perceive color differences and wear personal protective equipment.
- Involves strenuous physical activity.
