About the Role

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is a mission-driven organization that develops propulsion plant instrumentation and control (I&C) systems and training platforms for the U.S. Navy's Nuclear Propulsion Program. As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will support U.S. Navy current and future surface ships, including Nimitz-class and Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carriers and the future Battleship platform.

In this position, you will build on your Electrical/Computer engineering knowledge while developing Systems Engineering and troubleshooting skills. You will gain a deep understanding of naval nuclear power plants and I&C systems, interact directly with the U.S. Navy's nuclear fleet, assess problems, provide emergent support, and develop and support training for sailors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and support embedded control systems for naval nuclear propulsion.
  • Apply Systems Engineering principles to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Collaborate with the U.S. Navy to assess fleet problems and provide emergent support.
  • Contribute to the design and development of instrumentation and control systems for safe and reliable operation.
  • Support training initiatives for U.S. Navy sailors operating nuclear reactors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical, engineering, or science field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong academic performance (GPA 3.0 or above).
  • Experience working in a team environment with technical stakeholders.
  • Academic project, intern, or co-op experience in Systems, Hardware, or Software Development.

Pay

Pay range: $63,900.00 – $97,800.00 annually. Salary is based on candidate experience, qualifications, and market considerations.

All candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to pass a Federal background investigation for access to classified matter. Applicants must also pass a drug test in compliance with company policy and federal regulations. Marijuana use is prohibited under Federal Law.
