About the role

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Building Science Testing Technician to join its Building Science Solutions team in Hillside, Illinois. This role offers opportunities to grow a versatile career in the building enclosure testing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and site assessments under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
  • Operate testing equipment and conduct tests (e.g., air and water infiltration).
  • Provide assessments of data through reporting.
  • Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • General construction, carpentry, or construction testing experience.
  • Experience using power tools.
  • Technical competency to understand and communicate test procedures, specifications, and results and possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Awareness of, and adherence to, safety practices and policies.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds or more, sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, push, pull, etc. as required to perform job duties.
  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a technical field desired, or equivalent related experience.
  • Construction, glazing, roofing or similar general construction background.

Skills

  • Technical competency in understanding and communicating test procedures, specifications, and results.
  • Ability to operate and maintain testing equipment.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

The base wage or salary for this position is $28-35 per hour, dependent on experience. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

Schedule

Monday – Friday core business hours (may vary slightly).
