About the role

This role focuses on providing field service engineering support for a full range of industrial equipment, including in-house testing, installation, start-up, inspection, and service/repair activities. You will work directly with customers to ensure equipment is installed, commissioned, and maintained to high standards, while documenting procedures and creating clear technical materials that support safe and efficient operation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field service engineering activities for industrial equipment, including inspection, testing, installation, start-up, and service/repair.
  • Work with motor-controlled hydraulic and pneumatic industrial machines to support installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with PLCs and related control systems to restore equipment to proper operation.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints to guide installation, troubleshooting, and repair work.
  • Develop and write project plans, test plans, and equipment manuals that clearly document procedures and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with customer teams to support the installation and integration of new equipment at their facilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to customer personnel on the operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Work with the internal field service team to plan and coordinate service visits, share technical knowledge, and resolve complex issues.
  • Conduct on-site assessments of equipment performance and recommend improvements or corrective actions.
  • Document service activities, findings, and resolutions in a clear and timely manner for internal records and customer reporting.
  • Travel extensively to domestic and international customer sites to perform field service work in a variety of industrial environments.

Requirements

  • Proven field service engineering experience working with motor-controlled hydraulic and pneumatic industrial machines.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot PLCs and associated control systems.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical engineering skills related to industrial equipment, controls, and installations.
  • Effective communication skills to assist customers with installation and support of new equipment.
  • Ability to write clear and structured project plans, test plans, and equipment manuals.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, up to approximately 70% domestically and internationally, for trips ranging from a few days to several weeks.
  • Comfort working in hot, dirty, and challenging industrial environments when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Previous field experience with mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Previous field experience with electrical systems including PLCs, motor controls, and sensors.
  • Experience working with industrial controls and equipment in foundry or similar heavy industrial settings.
  • Ability to adapt to language barriers and cultural differences in international locations.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with a small, specialized field service group.
  • Interest in long-term professional development supported by structured training, profit sharing, and bonus opportunities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $33.65/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Work Environment

When not traveling, you work in an office setting at a desk alongside a small field service team, collaborating on planning, documentation, and remote support. During travel, you work at customer facilities in a wide range of industrial environments, including foundries and heavy manufacturing plants, both in the United States and internationally. International assignments may involve locations such as China, Japan, and India, where you may encounter language barriers and hot, dirty industrial conditions while remaining in safe, professionally managed facilities. Travel can be extensive, up to about 70%, with trips lasting from a few days to as long as six weeks.
