About the Role

This is an entry-level driver training role where you will learn to drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck intrastate and/or interstate on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and/or overnight routes. You will deliver and unload various food and food-related products to customers while adhering to company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The role involves professional interaction with customers, vendors, and coworkers to ensure services are executed according to preferred work methods and customer service practices.

Responsibilities

• Attend and successfully complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program.
• Ride with and assist a driver trainer in executing deliveries as required, following all instructions and directions provided.
• Perform all required safety checks (e.g., pre/post-trip inspections) of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Report all safety issues and/or required repairs.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; immediately report any safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined routes; unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
• Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about removing orders as per company policy.
• Verify delivery of items with the customer and obtain proper signatures; collect payment (cash or checks) where required.
• Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors; ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked/secured at all times.
• Unload damaged goods and customer returns; complete necessary paperwork.
• Complete daily records of hours of service and log entries in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
• Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Valid CDL A license.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test and road test.
• Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card.
• Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment (e.g., two-wheeler, lift gate) to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight (generally 60 to 90 pounds).

Internal PFG Candidates: 1 year of service in good standing as outlined in the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, and able to attain a CDL Permit and DOT Health Card.

External Driver School Direct Hire: 0-6 months of experience with a CDL License.

External Entry Level Hire: 0-6 months with a CDL License.

Pay

$80,000-$89,000 average annual salary with a $10,000 sign-on bonus (terms apply).

Schedule

• 4 and 5-day work weeks.
• Dispatch times range between 11 PM - 4 AM.
