Entry Level Construction Materials Testing Technician
About the role
Ready to start a career instead of just working a job? Tolunay Wong Engineers is hiring entry-level Construction Material Testing Technicians for its Austin/Cedar Creek, Texas location. You'll learn to test and inspect soils, concrete, asphalt, and more on real jobsites. No CMT background is required—we'll get you trained and certified starting on day one.
This position is a great fit for recent college grads (construction management, civil engineering, geology, or similar), military veterans looking for a hands-on technical career, or anyone mechanically inclined who is tired of dead-end work and wants to build real marketable skills.
You'll learn to test soil, concrete, and other construction materials in the field and laboratory by shadowing experienced technicians before working independently. You'll also learn to write clear, accurate field reports and communicate daily with dispatch and site contacts.
Technicians of all levels are expected to be physically capable of performing the duties described, including lifting 10 to 60 lbs. and transporting materials up to 200 lbs. using a wheelbarrow, cart, or dolly. Safety is a priority—every employee must perform their duties safely and with consideration for others.
We need people who can show up on time, safely operate a company or personal vehicle, and represent us well on client sites.
