Entry Level Civil Engineer – Springfield, Illinois

Responsibilities

• Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for municipal projects.
• Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for transportation projects.
• Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for site development projects.
• Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for water and wastewater projects.
• Develop 2D and 3D models using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D software.
• Aid in data collection at project sites, technical report writing, quantity calculations, and design calculations.
• Aid in facilitating project-related public information meetings.
• Perform construction observation which may include:
• Conducting field-required concrete or asphalt testing.
• Preparing and documenting material reports, test results and material sources.
• Maintaining daily inspection logs and addressing discrepancies with appropriate parties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• E.I. certification or ability to pass the F.E. exam within 6 months.
• 0 – 5 years of experience in civil design.
• Valid driver's license.
• Excellent computer and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Experience with Microsoft Office products, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D software is desirable.
• Knowledge of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) specifications and procedures is a plus.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Must be able to manage workload independently.
