Civil Engineer – Springfield, Illinois

Responsibilities

• Municipal utility, drainage, roadway, site design, and other engineering support functions
• Cook up a storm with coordination among engineers and technicians on a variety of challenging engineering tasks in a collaborative team environment
• Take charge of project management duties, like building strong client relationships, securing contracts, and reviewing project needs
• Design and prepare roadway construction documents, including typical/cross sections, erosion and sediment control plans, maintenance of traffic plans, stormwater management, drainage design, signing and pavement marking plans, and right-of-way plans
• Develop 3D models using Bentley CONNECT or Civil 3D software
• Oversee CADD technicians to ensure accuracy and quality of work
• Perform construction observation, which might involve:
• Conducting field-required concrete or asphalt testing
• Preparing and documenting material reports, test results, and material sources
• Maintaining daily inspection logs and addressing discrepancies with appropriate parties
• Preparing and reviewing pay reports

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Illinois P.E. license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• 5+ years of experience in municipal or transportation design
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with clients, contractors, and peers
• Excellent computer skills
• Experience with AutoCad Civil 3D and/or Bentley CONNECT

Pay

Salary Range $70,000-$100,000 annually
