Enterprise - Platform Engineer - Kubernetes, AWS, Linux
About the role
We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in Cloud technology (AWS), programming skills in Go, and a strong Linux foundation. You will significantly contribute to the development of custom software components and integration of open-source code to address complex problems through the use of cutting-edge Big Data/Cloud technology. The candidate will work autonomously, identifying and solving problems quickly while aligning with broader strategic goals set by Architects on the team.
This position allows partial telework and is performed in a hybrid environment with a collaborative team. A current U.S. Government Security clearance is not required at start, but the candidate must be eligible for a Secret level clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications
- Develop and deploy infrastructure in AWS using infrastructure as code and modern tools to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud
- Enhance, optimize, or increase robustness of existing code bases
- Work as a strong systems integrator with an eye for opportunity
- Leverage Kubernetes (or vendor flavors), Ansible, and storage layers (e.g., Ceph, Rook, Longhorn)
- Troubleshoot complex issues and solve problems independently
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Nine (9) years of experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field, or seven (7) years with a Master’s in a related field, or a High School Diploma/equivalent and thirteen (13) years of relevant experience
- Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS
- Experience with Kubernetes (or vendor flavors), Ansible, and storage layers (e.g., Ceph, Rook, Longhorn)
- Programming skills in languages like Python or Go
- Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications, and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment, averaging 1-2 days per week at our San Antonio, TX office; flexibility to adapt to schedule changes
Desired Skills
- Prior experience or familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (e.g., Cloudera’s Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, MapR)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab-CI, Travis-CI, Jenkins)
- Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and use of standard tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, GitLab)
- Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, or virtualization (oVirt, Proxmox, VMware)
- DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications (may be required as directed by the customer)

Pay
The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 - $265,000, depending on education and years of experience.
