Enterprise - Platform Engineer - Kubernetes, AWS, Linux

We are looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in Cloud technology (AWS), programming skills in Go, and a strong Linux foundation. The candidate will significantly contribute to the development of custom software components and integration of open-source code to address complex problems through the use of cutting edge Big Data / Cloud technology, work autonomously identifying and solving problems quickly while working toward broader strategic goals set by Architects on the team, and operate in a hybrid environment with a great team.

Responsibilities

• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code using Big Data/Cloud technologies.
• Work autonomously to identify and solve problems quickly while aligning with strategic goals set by team Architects.
• Act as a strong systems integrator, seeking opportunities to enhance, optimize, or increase robustness of existing code bases.
• Leverage infrastructure-as-code tools to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud.
• Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship required; a current U.S. Government Security clearance is not required at start but will be processed for a Secret level clearance.

Experience: either nine (9) years with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, seven (7) years with a Master’s degree, or thirteen (13) years with a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Skills

• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes (or vendor flavor), Ansible, and storage layers (Ceph, Rook, Longhorn, etc.).
• Programming skills in languages such as Python or Go.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications, and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash).
• Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities for complex issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, averaging 1‑2 days per week at the San Antonio, TX office, with flexibility to adapt to schedule changes.

Desired Skills

• Prior experience or familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR, etc.).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab‑CI, Travis‑CI, Jenkins, etc.).
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and use of standard tool suites (JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, GitLab, etc.).
• Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, virtualization (oVirt, Proxmox, VMware, etc.).
• DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required as directed by the customer.
