About the role
As an Algolia Enterprise Account Manager, you'll take on a strategic, high-impact role managing a large, fast-moving portfolio of some of the world's most complex and innovative companies. Success in this role means juggling a high volume of contract negotiations simultaneously, staying organized under pressure, navigating internal processes with efficiency, and consistently identifying and closing expansion opportunities within your accounts. We're looking for someone who thrives in a high-ownership environment, operates with autonomy, and brings a consultative approach to growing customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage a large portfolio of ~100 existing customers, balancing a retention and expansion quota. Given the size of the book, day-to-day priorities will skew toward protecting and renewing the existing book.
- Build trusted relationships with customers and develop a deep understanding of each customer's business objectives, use cases, and success criteria to proactively identify expansion opportunities.
- Work in tandem with CSMs to drive account planning and execution strategies that align Algolia’s solutions to customer goals, ensuring customers extract maximum value.
- Lead commercial conversations including renewals, contract negotiations, and expansion opportunities within your install base.
- Monitor account health, customer usage, and pipeline to identify risks early, inform next-best actions, and drive predictable revenue through retention, adoption, expansion, and re-engagement.
- Navigate internal cross-functional processes (legal, finance, deal desk) efficiently to keep contracts and renewals moving without unnecessary delay.
- Operate independently in a fast-evolving environment, helping shape sales motions into repeatable, scalable playbooks.
Requirements
- 4+ years in a B2B SaaS sales or account management role, with ownership of both renewals and expansion revenue.
- Track record negotiating commercial contracts directly with customers and internal stakeholders (legal, finance, deal desk).
- Highly organized, with a system for tracking a large, concurrent pipeline of renewals and expansion opportunities without dropping details.
- Proven success in complex, consultative enterprise sales — you've sold into organizations with matrixed structures and multiple stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration skills with Customer Success, Solutions Engineers, and other cross-functional teams to proactively address customer needs, remove blockers, and drive outcomes.
- Background primarily in startup or high-growth environments, with the resourcefulness to navigate ambiguity without needing detailed direction.
Nice to have
- Experience with SaaS, APIs, or developer-focused products.
- Familiarity with usage-based or consumption-based business models.
- Background working with eCommerce or digital experience platforms.
In practice, this looks like
- Someone who runs a tight, organized process across dozens of concurrent deals — nothing falls through the cracks.
- Engages customers with thoughtful, probing questions to understand their goals, needs, and pain points, and clearly articulates how Algolia's solutions address them.
- Ramps quickly on complex technical products and has a strong understanding of how modern web and AI-native applications are built and scaled.
- Communicates effectively with both business stakeholders (e.g., merchandisers, Heads of eCommerce) and technical audiences, adapting approach and messaging accordingly.
Values
- Grit - Problem-solving and perseverance capability in an ever-changing and growing environment.
- Trust - Willingness to trust our co-workers and to take ownership.
- Candor - Ability to receive and give constructive feedback.
- Care - Genuine care about other team members, our clients and the decisions we make in the company.
- Humility - Aptitude for learning from others, putting ego aside.
