About the role

Canibuild automates the residential construction industry’s design, approval, and sales processes, allowing clients to answer 'Can I build this on this plot of land?' instantly. As a fast-growing SaaS platform backed by Australia’s largest hedge fund, we serve clients across Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the US.

Governments across the US are under mounting pressure to modernise how they permit and approve building — driven by legislated deadlines, funded modernisation mandates, and residents who expect faster, more transparent decisions. Canibuild is the AI-powered platform that helps them clear the backlog, already live in production with public-sector customers across the US, Australia, and New Zealand, including the LA County / Eaton-fire rebuild. This is a build-the-motion role: you'll be our first dedicated government seller, with a national US territory, owning your number and shaping how we win government from the ground up.

You'll be backed by a full-time Bids & Government Grants Specialist and a Solutions Architect dedicated to the government team, allowing you to focus on outreach while proposals, grant applications, and technical scoping are handled alongside you. You'll use a modern stack — HubSpot CRM with AI automation for outreach, research, and pipeline — and be supported by a marketing team with a dedicated government channel.

Responsibilities

  • Own the government pipeline: build, qualify, and keep it moving full-cycle, from first call to signed contract.
  • Proactive outreach: prioritize phone calls over emails, book meetings, and run demos with high activity.
  • Get Canibuild onto government budgets using public-sector buying paths like cooperative purchasing vehicles, resellers, grants, and formal solicitations.
  • Engage credibly with building officials, planning officials, procurement officers, and executive/budget-holders, representing Canibuild at relevant conferences.
  • Respond fast to urgent, funded modernisation or rebuild needs, prioritizing mission-first outcomes for communities.

Requirements

  • You’ve sold software to building & planning departments and carried a SaaS/software quota in this space — adjacent gov tech experience doesn’t count.
  • Tech-savvy: you run your own demos confidently, learn products quickly, and use AI tooling daily.
  • Hunter mentality: you prioritize phone outreach, book demos, and build pipeline from scratch with high activity.
  • Self-starter: you arrive with a plan, execute week one, and adjust strategy on the fly without over-thinking.
  • Public-sector fluent: you understand RFPs, cooperative contracts, sole-source thresholds, and fiscal-year cycles.
  • Ethically sharp: you navigate revolving-door rules and avoid conflicts with recruited ex-officials.

Nice to have

  • Existing government network (e.g., retired building/planning officials).
  • Familiarity with HUD or housing-agency funding.
  • Prior first-sales-hire or 0-to-1 GTM experience.

Pay

Annual base salary + uncapped commissions.

Schedule

Remote, US-based, with travel to conferences and jurisdictions.
