Duties And Responsibilities
- Books, coordinates and reschedules patient appointments.
- Relays messages to staff and physicians as needed.
- Greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and professional manner.
- Obtains proper signatures as necessary.
- Verifies necessary information to get patient properly registered including phone number, address and insurance information.
- Answers incoming calls to the facility in a professional, timely manner.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to the supervisor, coworkers, and physicians.
- Maintains a good working relationship within the departments and with other departments.
- Receives patient payments or co-payments as required.
- Posts transactions appropriately to system.
- Counts till drawer and verifies correct amount at the beginning and ending of every shift.
- Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
- Responsible for knowing policies and being familiar with services that are available.
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
- Interacts professionally and treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients’ records.
- Participates in the educational programs, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
- Maintains a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly report card.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
- Must wear appropriate clothing acceding to dress code.
- Wears identification while on duty.
- Uses computerized punch time system properly.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or higher.
- One to three month’s related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively, before groups of customers and or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate ratios and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to work well with others as a team player.
- Must be able to handle conflict issues with both patients and staff.
