ENROLLMENT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE
Calendar year, full-time, permanent classified civil-service position represented by ESP-URI/NEARI (Educational Support Professionals).
About the role
To provide high-level Enrollment Services clerical support; assist in answering Enrollment Services requests and providing information on a wide variety of enrollment-related questions, including maintenance of student financial and employment records; receive and disburse currency and checks according to established procedures; perform complex word processing and data entry using word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.
Works under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment; work is monitored and reviewed for accuracy and adherence to objectives. May supervise a small group of Enrollment Services support staff as required.
Responsibilities
- Research and respond to Enrollment Services requests (in-person and telephone) concerning registration and records, student financial assistance and employment, billing, and collections.
- Collect payments, including checks for confirmation deposits, housing deposits, and outside loans and scholarships.
- Receive, receipt, and balance money and checks with accuracy and speed.
- Record Enrollment Services transactions in books of original entry and post to ledger accounts from receipt, disbursement, expense, and appropriation records according to established account classifications.
- Reconcile Enrollment Services records with those of the University’s General Accounting Office and/or Grant and Research Accounting Office to ensure agreement of disbursements, receipts, outstanding orders, and balances.
- Process transcript requests.
- Review financial aid applications for completeness and request missing information when necessary.
- Assist in answering written requests and troubleshooting problems related to Enrollment Services.
- Disseminate information concerning fee schedules, payment plans, fee waivers, sanctions, refunds, and assist in distributing Enrollment Services printed materials and correspondence.
- Perform complex word processing, database, and spreadsheet functions.
Requirements
- Familiarity with principles, practices, and techniques associated with enrollment services and supporting computer systems.
- Working knowledge of procedures and practices for handling and accounting for receipt and disbursement of monies.
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
- Ability to perform complex tabulations and arithmetical computations, accurately count and disburse money, and perform word processing, database, and spreadsheet functions with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to deal courteously with customers.
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from a senior high school, including or supplemented by completion of courses in commercial arithmetic.
Experience: Employment involving enrollment services practices, including procedures and practices for handling and accounting for receipt and disbursement of monies; customer service; and use of word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.
OR: Any combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to the above.
Note: 40 net words per minute (5-minute test).

Pay
Salary range: $48,771–$53,059 (Pay Grade Level 315).
Schedule
8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
