Enrollment Advisor - Casual/Temporary

Location: Skokie, IL • Part-time • Hourly: $24.39

About the role

Reporting to the Manager of Enrollment Services, you will provide timely, accurate information and assistance to students, staff, and the Oakton community. You will deliver comprehensive general information regarding all aspects of college procedures, programs, and services that pertain to the enrollment process, and register students in courses according to established guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome students, parents, visitors, faculty, staff, and community members who visit the Enrollment Center with a friendly, service-oriented attitude.
• Assist students in person or virtually, via appointment or on-demand when they contact the Enrollment Center.
• Act as an expert representing Admission, Academic Advising, Registration, Financial Assistance, and Student Records by providing accurate information to students and the community via telephone, electronic communication channels (e.g., email, chat bot, website), or in-person.
• Provide relevant information related to a student's account, make changes to a student's record, and/or refer to another department/individual as needed.
• Offer educational assistance to students related to enrollment services functions that support admission, registration, and payment activities.
• Proactively review a student's account to determine their residency status and billing rate and provide options for obtaining the in-district tuition rate.
• Provide students with information related to holds, refunds, payment options, and other financial obligations associated with registration.
• Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of student systems, including Banner, Banner Financial Aid, CampusLogic, OnBase, TargetX, and chat bot; identify and report technical issues, troubleshoot student technical issues, and refer to IT Help Desk as needed.
• Assist with the training and limited functional supervision of student employees.
• Provide intentional outreach to students via personalized email and/or call campaigns to inform students about deadlines and other important enrollment-related information; follow up with students as needed.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate's degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
• Two years of general office experience is required; higher education experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability and desire to work and interact directly with students with a strong dedication to customer service, problem solving, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a cohesive team.
• Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with people of different levels of education, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences.
• Experience with customer service technologies and willingness to learn, with preferred experience with TargetX CRM, chat bot, Banner, Banner Financial Aid, OnBase, and Google Suite.
• Ability to travel to and work on different campuses as needed; customer service and telephone experience in a higher education setting preferred.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–3:00 PM (25 hours per week).
• Position may work up to 35 hours, including some evenings and Saturdays during peak enrollment seasons; schedule based on the needs of the college.
