About the Program

The Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) is excited to welcome new Pre-Kindergarten students for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. We offer programs at 21 elementary schools across the district to help your child build a strong foundation for future success. Limited spots are now available for 3-and 4-year olds.

How To Enroll

Enrollment applications help secure your child's placement in our Pre-K program. Please note that Pre-K has limited slots.

• Applications must be completed on a desktop, laptop, or tablet. Mobile phones are not supported.
• If you do not have access to a supported device, please call 913-993-6441 to schedule an appointment to enroll in person.

Eligibility Requirements

To ensure your child is placed in the correct program, please note the following age requirements (based on the state guideline of August 31):

• 3-Year-Olds: Must be 3 on or before August 31, 2026.
• 4-Year-Olds: Must be 4 on or before August 31, 2026.
• Kindergarten Note: Students who turn 5 on or before August 31, 2026, are not eligible for Pre-K and should enroll in Kindergarten.
