About the Role

Responsible for implementing project-based learning curriculum and complementary academic enrichment activities for the Summer Enrichment Program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a project-based learning (PBL) curriculum and complete a PBL calendar for the program.
  • Participate in planning and curriculum development designed to foster consistency between day-school and afterschool programs.
  • Work as part of a blended staff of teachers, paraprofessionals, assistant homework coordinators, and students.
  • Act as program liaison with classroom teachers to ensure completion and receipt of required pre-and-post Survey of Academic Youth Outcomes (SAYO).
  • Oversee all aspects of programming, including project-based curriculum, program evaluation, student evaluation, and record-keeping for the afterschool program.
  • Participate in all evaluation efforts for the afterschool program.
  • Maintain all program records (e.g., attendance, snacks) for the afterschool program.
  • Report to the site supervisor, project director, and the Afterschool Advisory Board.
  • Collaborate with staff to increase opportunities for students to learn and practice new ELA and 21st Century skills.
  • Work with teachers and school staff to promote the afterschool program and foster cooperation between in-school and afterschool programs.
  • Participate in follow-up staff meetings to share experiences and formulate plans to continue partnerships between in-school and afterschool programs.
  • Address any additional program-related needs or requirements.
  • Provide auxiliary services such as preparing, organizing, and presenting materials to students and/or performing clerical tasks.
  • Facilitate the afterschool food program.
  • Attend monthly curriculum training.
  • Work with the parent engagement facilitator to facilitate parent engagement activities.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student successes and conduct weekly listening conferences.

Requirements

  • Full knowledge of project-based learning strategies.
  • Ability to implement project-based learning curriculum.
  • Ability to work as part of a blended staff including teachers, paraprofessionals, assistant homework coordinators, and students.
  • Demonstrated compassion, understanding, and acceptance when working with participants, families, and staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
