About the role

The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking enthusiastic, passionate education professionals (certified teachers) to serve as Enrichment Specialists in our in-person Power Scholars Academy Summer Program in the Henrico area at Dumbarton Elementary. This part-time position starts in June and ends in mid July. This position starts at $25.00 per hour and has the opportunity to be up to 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

- Work closely with Assistant Teachers to implement enrichment programs for elementary school students. - Develop relevant lessons. - Ensure academic and social development of scholars. - Identify scholar needs and create original instructional plans. - Monitor scholar progress and make adjustments. - Create a safe and productive learning environment. - Provide mentorship to Assistant Teachers and volunteers. - Supervise scholars in in-person day-to-day activities as well as special functions, such as field trips.

Qualifications

Candidates must have at least three years of related experience. A teaching certification is required. Must be a high school graduate, 18 years of age, and have at least six months experience working with youth. Excellent verbal, written, organizational and technological skills. Strong relationship building, mentoring, communication and leadership skills.
