About the role
The Y Enrichment Specialist leads children and teens in positive, fun, and enriching activities that support healthy youth development. They prepare and submit lesson plans tailored to individual student needs and program goals.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit lesson plans for children and teens in grades K-12 at schools in low-income communities.
- Engage students in activities that foster healthy youth development.
- Support and nurture youth adversely impacted by the achievement gap.
- Work at multiple locations within Harford County.
Requirements
- An interest in the well-being of school-age youth.
- Enthusiasm, patience, and good humor.
- A good spirit and ability to be flexible.
- Prior experience leading school-age youth is preferred.
- The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, school administration, and other Y associates.
Qualifications
- Must agree to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth.
- Must have the ability to treat youth with respect and fairness, avoid inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhere to established standards of affection.
- Must not engage in any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment.
- Must report suspected mistreatment to appropriate authorities.
- Must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements.
