About the role

Enhanced Advocates provide crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, and information about the criminal justice system in a trauma-informed environment that values and celebrates diversity and inclusion.

Pay

  • $20 per hour on weekdays
  • $30 per hour on weekends and holidays
  • $17 per hour when responding while on call

Schedule

  • On-call 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. evenings
  • On-call 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on holidays and weekends
  • Must cover at least one weekend per month and two calendar holidays per year (New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve)

Responsibilities

  • Respond to hospitals or law enforcement agencies to provide face-to-face crisis intervention and support to survivors of sexual and domestic assault
  • Maintain availability at all times while on call and be on site within 30 minutes of a call
  • Demonstrate and maintain total confidentiality at all times (conversations, files, cell phone calls)
  • Provide appropriate referrals and follow up on cases as needed
  • Complete initial 8 hours of training within two weeks of hire
  • Attend quarterly meetings
  • Cooperate and collaborate with program staff, volunteers, visitors, and the community at large
  • Demonstrate a high degree of crisis intervention skills while working with a diverse clientele
  • Display a courteous and caring attitude at all times to clientele, volunteers, agency staff, and the community
  • Be dependable and punctual regarding scheduling
  • Abide by all specific program and agency policies and procedures
  • Develop personal and program-related skills through participation in internal and external training opportunities, including printed material and media
  • Create, maintain, and share as appropriate a dynamic self-care plan
  • Strive to make connections between the agency and the larger community to contribute to fundraising and friend-raising efforts
  • Perform other program duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, social work, and domestic violence preferred but not required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Bilingual skills preferred
  • Essential functions of this job must be performed on the company’s physical work site
