English, Comparative Literature & Linguistics - Part-Time Lecturer Pool

About the role

The Department of English, Comparative Literature, and Linguistics at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. We are seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach in the following subject areas: Developmental Writing, Beginning College Writing, Advanced College Writing, Scientific and Technical Writing, Creative Writing, Introductory Literature courses, Advanced Literature/Composition and Rhetoric courses, and Introductory Linguistics courses. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Developmental Writing, Beginning College Writing, Advanced College Writing, Scientific and Technical Writing, Creative Writing, Introductory Literature, Advanced Literature/Composition and Rhetoric, and Introductory Linguistics.
• Work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.

Requirements

• Candidates for introductory courses must have at least a Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum of the Department of English, Comparative Literature, and Linguistics.
• A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division courses (300- or 400-level).

• Experience teaching at the college or university level.
• Evidence of strong teaching abilities.
• Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
• Relevant work experience.

• Ability to interact effectively with a diverse student body.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Pay

$5,507 - $6,677 per month

Schedule

Temporary appointments, often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association.
