Engineering Temp - Student Intern

About the role

This is a seasonal, part‑time Engineering Temp – Student Intern position with the City of Ann Arbor’s Engineering Department. The department oversees the civil engineering design, construction, and close‑out of planned public improvements, including water main, storm, sanitary, sidewalks, roads, and pavement markings. The intern will work with multiple project managers who focus on utility, road, and sidewalk projects. The appointment can last no more than 6–9 months.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or post graduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Technology, Surveying or related field
• Valid driver’s license (required for field positions to drive to numerous local job sites daily)
• Ability to work in a team and take instruction
• Ability and willingness to perform construction inspection in all weather conditions
• Ability to effectively document and communicate technical information to both a technical and non‑technical audience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products as well as general computer skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Good organizational skills

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $18.68

Schedule

Work schedule: up to 29 hours per week
