Engineering Technician - Level 2 or Level 3

About the role

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking an Engineering Technician – Level 2 or Level 3 to join our team in Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, FL. The Engineering Technician is responsible for fabrication, assembly, testing, and acceptance of flight hardware.

Responsibilities

• Operate electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Mix, apply, and bond coatings and adhesives.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Install and test electronic components, boxes, cables, and systems.
• Disassemble, inspect, and install mechanical hardware.
• Operate heavy equipment (cranes, forklifts, manlifts, tugs).
• Use manual tools, torque wrenches, power tools, and pneumatic tools.
• Participate as a team member to positively influence and enhance the safety, quality, cost, and schedule of the team.
• Be well organized and able to follow and execute computer-based work instructions.
• Share your knowledge with others on the team.
• Act with a sense of urgency without compromising safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule

This position follows a 4/10 schedule (10-hour days, with every Friday off). As demand grows, scheduled Friday workdays, rotating shifts, and overtime may be required.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications for Level 2

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of additional education and/or related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Must be able to pass a NASA background check.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics, and electronic work instructions.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Standard computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to support rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime when required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work in a manufacturing environment, including accessing ladders, stairs, and work platforms.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment (cranes, forklifts, manlifts, tugs).

Basic Qualifications for Level 3

• High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of additional education and/or related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Must be able to pass a NASA background check.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics, and electronic work instructions.
• Ability to train and mentor other teammates.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Self-motivated, requiring limited oversight; flexible and adaptable to varying work scope and tasks.
• Proficient in the use of manual tools, torque wrenches, power tools, pneumatic tools, and electronic test equipment such as a Fluke Meter or Oscilloscope.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Standard computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to support rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime when required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work in a manufacturing environment, including accessing ladders, stairs, and work platforms.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment (cranes, forklifts, manlifts, tugs).

Preferred Qualifications

• Machining skills to include manual or CNC.
• Ordnance handling in accordance with strict safety.
• Match drilling to maintain alignment and hole quality.

Pay

Primary Level (Level 2) Salary Range: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour.

Secondary Level (Level 3) Salary Range: $33.00 - $41.00 per hour.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
