About the role
Intertek is seeking an Engineering Technician II (Electrical) to join our Electrical team in Plano, Texas. This role provides technical support for engineering staff, including performing duties related to routine testing, maintenance, or clean-up. Intertek's Electrical business line applies over 100 years of product testing expertise to help clients meet safety, performance, environmental, and quality requirements across industries such as Medical, Lighting, Renewable Energy, HVACR, Appliances & Electronics, Hazardous Locations, Industrial Equipment, Life Safety & Security, IT & Telecom Equipment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up test samples and test equipment.
- Operate equipment and perform testing in accordance with approved test plans.
- Obtain and record test data in accordance with standards.
- Perform calculations and analysis of test data.
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
- Make recommendations regarding the interpretation and applicability of specific test standards.
- Communicate with clients regarding general project inquiries and updates.
- Assist with test plan creation and/or method development.
- Adapt procedures and equipment to meet department needs.
- Prepare project files for compliance with operating procedures.
- Assist with training entry-level technicians.
- Draft test reports.
- Perform other work as required.
The position requires both the mental and physical ability to carry out the defined duties.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1.5+ years of experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
- Ability to use basic shop equipment and various hand tools.
- Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information effectively.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Detailed-oriented with effective prioritization, organization, and time management skills.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Customer-focused and quality-driven.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-year technical degree in Electronic Engineering Technology.
- 2 years of experience in an electrical testing environment.
- Intermediate level of electrical network analysis.
