On-siteManufacturingFull-time
Responsibilities
- Electrical & Controls (Primary Focus)
- Assemble, wire, route, and terminate electrical panels, prototype control boxes, junctions, and harnesses following engineering schematics.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues (power, signal, grounding, noise, sensor wiring, motor drivers, PLC/IPC-connected components).
- Test, validate, and document electrical subsystem performance, including suggested wiring or hardware improvements.
- Safety, labeling, organization, and preventive maintenance of prototype automation systems.
- Prototype System Operation & Debug
- Operate prototype automation equipment, log system behavior, and identify repeatable bugs, gaps, or failure modes.
- Collect, organize, and present experiment data—photos, wiring notes, test logs, parameter sets, timing data—for engineering debug and root-cause analysis.
- Assist in system bring-up for new prototypes, including alignment, calibration, and integration of updated components.
- Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, and General Lab Support
- Create or update SOPs, maintenance instructions, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
- Aid in technician-level mechanical build tasks (mounting hardware, panel layout, fasteners, brackets, cable routing).
- Support quality, safety, and lab operations standards at all times.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical experience aligned with the responsibilities of this role.
- AS degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
- Strong wiring experience: control panels, low-voltage systems, sensors, motor drivers, power distribution, cable management.
- Experience troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems, including reading schematics, interpreting electrical drawings, and using diagnostic tools (DMMs, continuity testers, oscilloscopes—basic level).
- Hands-on experience operating, maintaining, or repairing automated or semi-automated machinery.
- Ability to run experiments, follow test procedures, capture accurate data, and communicate findings clearly.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measurement equipment.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced R&D environment; able to work independently and collaborate effectively with engineers.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, climb/stoop/push/pull, perform repetitive tasks, and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- BSEET, BSMET, or similar.
- Experience with industrial electrical control systems, wiring best practices, and panel build standards.
- Familiarity with sensors, motion components, PLC/IPC control, robotics, or electro-adhesive/automation systems.
- Basic understanding of mechanical design, fabrication processes, tolerances, and prototyping workflows, including 3D printing.
- Experience with CAD or ECAD tools (SolidWorks, Onshape, AutoCAD Electrical).
- Experience documenting ECOs, assemblies, or prototype updates in an engineering environment.
- Prior work in R&D, early-stage hardware development, or fast-moving prototype shops.
