About the role

Space Systems has an opening for an Engineering Technician 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

As a Spacecraft Technician, you will perform a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development, assembly, and integration of Space Vehicle mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. You will devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies, participate in the development of sub-system and system test methodology, and assist with setting up and testing complete prototype and flight units and sub-assemblies under operational conditions.

Top Secret clearance required for start. Travel is required, approximately 10% of the time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanical engineers in the development, assembly, and integration of Space Vehicle mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems
• Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies
• Participate in the development of sub-system and system test methodology
• Set up and test complete prototype and flight units and sub-assemblies under operational conditions

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience
• Willing to work any shift and cover extended work weeks as required
• Technical knowledge in manufacturing operations and procedures as it pertains to mechanical assembly and harnessing, with a high attention to detail
• Hands-on knowledge and experience with the use of a variety of hand tools and mechanical equipment
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required at time of application

Preferred Qualifications

• AA degree or other two-year technical degree
• Familiarity with Northrop Grumman Corporation processes
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office to supplement work order and other data requirements
• Comprehension of reading drawings, process specifications, and work order instructions
• Experience working in clean room environments
• Proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,100.00 - $131,900.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

Schedule

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
