Engineering Tech V- 1st Shift
About the role
Medtronic is seeking a CNC Programmer – Engineering Tech V to join our team at our Warsaw, Indiana manufacturing site. This role plays a critical part in optimizing production, ensuring quality, and advancing our mission to improve lives.
Responsibilities
- Develops all CNC machining program code.
- Reviews engineering drawings and initiates changes, or recommendations, for manufacturing tools, fixtures, CNC programs, through the change control system.
- Provides technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes and products.
- Maintains process designs to optimize process, equipment and facility use while conforming to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Works in cross-collaborative teams to execute risk management activities (i.e. pFMEA).
- Creates conceptual designs for new fixtures and special cutting tools.
- Reviews product drawings for manufacturability. Initiates drawing changes with the product design engineer to improve manufacturing quality and reduce costs.
- Supports product launches, transfer of product and core business initiatives.
- Trains new team members as well as new CNC machine programs, machining processes, or machining equipment.
- Executes and supports development of validation and qualification studies.
- Works with equipment suppliers on equipment specifications, quoting of specified equipment and delivery schedules.
- Makes recommendations to leadership on plant layout.
- Makes equipment acquisitions decisions.
- Works with tooling team personnel, purchasing personnel and outside tool suppliers.
- May determine appropriate machine platforms for product and review any necessary capital equipment requirements along with specifying required capital tool holders.
- Develops manufacturing setup sheets for all machining operations for new products.
- May recommend equipment acquisitions.
- Conducts, analyzes and prepares reports using metrics from salvage tracking, trending, reporting and root-cause analyses.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Nice to have: Experience with CAM/CAD software: Mastercam, Pro/E and Vericut; Direct experience with providing direct machining support such as creating new programs, troubleshooting and/or updating existing programs; Advanced level of understanding machines platforms such as mills, chuckers and Swiss style lathes; Proven experience troubleshooting machining issues, research and developing tools, fixtures and programming solutions to solve quality and safety issues; Working knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements (including, but not limited to: ISO 13485, ISO 14971, MDD 93/42 EEC, PAL, CMDR, and 21 CFR Part 820); Strong oral and written communication skills; Good interpersonal skills; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive, and enthusiastic attitude; Eagerness to learn and expand responsibilities; Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships; Willingness to participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States: A degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
Skills
- Advanced level of understanding machines platforms such as mills, chuckers and Swiss style lathes.
- Proven experience troubleshooting machining issues, research and developing tools, fixtures and programming solutions to solve quality and safety issues.
- Working knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements (including, but not limited to: ISO 13485, ISO 14971, MDD 93/42 EEC, PAL, CMDR, and 21 CFR Part 820).
