Job Overview

Systems Control’s Engineering Quality Specialist reviews and validates electrical design drawings for manufactured equipment enclosures to ensure accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable electrical codes, company standards, and customer specifications.

About the Role

This role supports successful project execution by providing an independent quality review of engineering deliverables before they are issued for manufacturing, helping to reduce errors, improve quality, and support successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Review wiring diagrams, elementary schematics, interconnection diagrams, one-lines, and cable schedules for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review enclosure layouts for proper component placement, accessibility, labeling, wire routing, and manufacturability.
  • Check electrical designs for proper equipment selection, conductor sizing, circuit protection, grounding, and installation requirements.
  • Verify compliance with applicable electrical codes, company standards, customer requirements, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Identify design conflicts, constructability issues, and documentation errors, providing clear comments for resolution.
  • Work closely with engineering and drafting teams at design review closeouts to resolve design issues.
  • Aid in maintaining engineering templates, drafting standards, and quality checklists.
  • Maintain accurate records of design reviews and ensure document control procedures are followed.
  • Promote consistency across projects and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, drafting, or engineering support.
  • Experience using ERP, PLM, or document management systems, preferably Bluebeam.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, IEEE standards, and applicable client or industry standards.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, power systems, instrumentation, and industrial electrical design.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical engineering principles and drafting standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies and potential construction issues before project release.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Collaborative approach when working with engineers, designers, and project teams.
  • Ability to interpret codes, standards, and client specifications accurately.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.
  • Capability to independently lead design reviews close out meetings.
