Engineering Project Team Leadr
About the Role
Caterpillar’s Earthmoving division is hiring an Engineering Project Team Leader to drive innovation of Medium Wheel Loader (MWL) products globally. As the Medium Wheel Loader Custom Lead, you will provide project management for product development of MWL custom product introductions through planning, coordination, and execution. This role involves creating solutions for unique customer needs, many of which become standard product offerings. You will also collaborate with Caterpillar Defense Products to develop military applications.
United States citizenship is required. Up to 10% domestic and international travel is expected. Domestic relocation to Peoria, IL is available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and project leadership, along with hands-on machine expertise, to a team of engineers and technicians.
- Lead and perform design work for projects that result in direct sales of machines, configurations, and attachments.
- Develop field dealer-installed and factory kits, as well as unique solutions (e.g., machine lifting, scrap handling, special guarding, modified implement controls).
- Partner with Caterpillar Defense Products to support military applications, taking ownership of new attachments and offerings.
- Oversee project progress and costs, communicate status with stakeholders, and resolve problems as they arise.
- Manage past designs, ensure supply assurance, and handle deviations as required.
- Collaborate with engineering system teams to develop improvements or attachments that meet customer and business needs.
- Mentor junior engineers in the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Progressive knowledge of Medium Wheel Loader or similar construction products, including design processes and standards.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, complex assignments, and simultaneous projects with strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
- Willingness and ability to collaborate with international teams across various time zones.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in design software (e.g., Creo and Teamcenter or similar).
- Ability to develop solutions for technical issues related to quality, velocity, and cost objectives.
- Strong communication skills to build networks with diverse teams and drive positive business results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Medium Wheel Loader machines, design, or development experience.
- Experience communicating with upper management and presenting to all levels of the organization.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to collaborate across multi-functional teams.
- Proven leadership, mediation skills, and a focus on consensus-building.
Pay
Summary pay range: $128,470.00 - $192,710.00. Compensation and benefits may vary based on job level, market location, knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.
