Pay

$10,823 to $17,320 per month (EM-07, Minimum to Maximum). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

About the Role

The Engineering Program Manager manages a major engineering branch or district office and performs other duties as assigned. An engineer at this level typically exercises technical and administrative control, through subordinate professional supervisors, over major engineering programs involving large monetary expenditures, or directs several small groups of engineers engaged in extremely complex projects. The work directed is characterized by unique and complex problems, and a departure from accepted standards or guides. Consequently, an engineer at this level is guided essentially by general overall directives, their own analysis and interpretation of broad policies and regulations of higher authority, their knowledge of technological advances, and a broad technical background and experience in an area or areas of specialization.

Requirements

• Legal authorization to work in the United States as a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien, or eligibility under federal law for unrestricted employment.
• A valid State of Hawaii Professional Engineer license at the time of application. More information on licensure.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited school of engineering.
• Four years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience applying the basic physical and mathematical sciences and the engineering sciences to solve theoretical or practical engineering problems.
• Two years of either:
  • Supervisory experience in professional engineering, including training, coordinating, assigning workloads, evaluating performance, and maintaining high work standards; or
  • Staff advisory experience as a technical expert in a specialized engineering area, performing consultative, reviewing, or long-range planning functions.
• Administrative aptitude, which may be demonstrated through relevant experience or strong evidence of necessary abilities.
• A valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
