About the role
BAE Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Production Support teams at our Aiken, SC production facilities. This role supports engineering and production teams by addressing design and fabrication issues in the production environment.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and test results to ensure compliance with engineering standards and product requirements.
- Support program and vehicle production on 1st shift by serving as the Engineering Point of Contact for technical design issues.
- Create Problem Reports detailing engineering-related issues in production and liaise with Integrated Program Teams to develop solutions.
- Maintain the Variance control process for production-related variations from the Technical Data Package (TDP), obtaining Internal and Customer approval for Variances.
- Develop and implement solutions to problems, including standard and non-standard repairs and configuration notes.
- Aid in special projects and process improvement teams to enhance work effectiveness and relationships between Design and Production.
- Recommend design enhancements for system, subsystem, or component design to the design engineering group.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives, policies, and rules.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experienced knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant technical field of specialization.
- Experience using 3D CAD software such as PTC Creo, Pro/Engineer, and ProductView.
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies in applicable engineering disciplines.
- Ability to create/maintain large Excel spreadsheets.
- Ability to resolve basic technical design and development problems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred
- Experience supporting engineering in a prototype or production environment.
- Experience working with military ground vehicles.
- Knowledgeable of relevant military and commercial design standards.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing and Configuration Management Systems.
- Knowledgeable of CREO.
- Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing ASME Y14.5-2009.
