Engineering Manager - SmartDesk
The Role You'll Play
You'll lead an engineering team in building an innovative AI-powered front desk assistant for wellness businesses. Your role involves:
- Empowering a high-performing engineering team to deliver exceptional technical solutions and drive meaningful business impact
- Leading end-to-end team management, from recruiting top talent to mentoring and supporting career growth
- Shaping the technical vision and strategy for SmartDesk, balancing rapid innovation with robust engineering principles
- Driving product development through close collaboration with product, data, and applied AI teams
- Making critical architectural decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term system flexibility
- Contributing to engineering-wide initiatives and helping evolve Playlist's technical capabilities
- Establishing clear goals, prioritizing resources, and guiding team execution through complex, ambiguous challenges
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering management experience leading teams of 6+ members
- Proven track record of designing and scaling AI-powered SaaS products in B2B2C environments
- Strong proficiency in Python, with comfort working across diverse technology stacks (React, C#)
- Deep expertise in transforming AI capabilities into production-ready, reliable systems
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to cross-functional stakeholders
- Demonstrated success in establishing technical vision and driving measurable outcomes
- Experience with modern AI development tools and frameworks
- Passion for building diverse, high-performing engineering teams
- LLMs and Generative AI frameworks
- AWS (ECS, SQS, RDS)
- Python
- TypeScript / JavaScript / React / Next.js

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
The base salary range for this position in the United States is $151,275 to $201,700. The total compensation package for this position may also include a performance bonus, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
