Responsibilities
- Serve as an in-house expert in mechanical engineering as it relates to the organization’s products and services.
- Supervise a group of design engineers and drafting personnel and manage all workflow for the team.
- Mentor and develop the existing engineering team as you direct the department staff.
- Familiar with all pertinent codes and standards such as ASME Section 1, NFPA etc.
- Advise engineering solutions and recommendations to project managers and designers.
- Review/check Wood and vendor created drawings and calculations.
- Coverage of client relationships.
- Coordinate the flow of information and drawing preparation with 3rd party design companies.
- Client visits to present, inspect, or collect information, for proposal or contract work.
- Willingness to travel to jobsites in North America.
- Maintain and update current engineering standards as required.
- Review client technical specifications.
- Review vendor quotes versus project requirements.
- Proposal preparation and cost estimates.
- Review vendor requests for material substitutions and approve as appropriate.
Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, advanced degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize engineering principals in equipment design.
- Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, strong technical writing, and presentation abilities.
