Engineering Manager - Projects

About the role

X-energy LLC is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and manage the engineering team in Oak Ridge, TN. The role focuses on large-scale technical projects and products, ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency, and alignment with organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

• Manage the execution of the engineering design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program / project requirements.
• Manages the utilization of engineering resources across multiple projects and ensures qualified engineers are performing assigned work.
• Manage design cycle sprints and provide direction to ensure the convergence of efforts of engineering team members, partners, and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality engineering work products that are on schedule and within budget as defined by the Project leadership.
• Manages (functional area) engineering staff by ensuring staff are meeting expectations and promoting staff professional development.
• Influences the development of strategy, methodology, and technical tools for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and policy formulation.
• Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, tools, or services.
• Uses high level of judgement to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operations, product management, technology, or engineering.
• Affords new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations.
• Works within a multidisciplinary engineering team to create the next generation nuclear reactor and/or nuclear fuel related technologies.
• Performs work in accordance with design control procedures, ensuring thorough documentation of work, facilitation of internal and external design reviews, and control of product design configuration data.
• Maintains professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
• Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college.
• Ten plus years of professional experience in project engineering after completion of undergraduate study.
• Graduate degrees typically count as two plus years of experience.
• Experience estimating time and resources needed to execute engineering activities.
• Requires specialized knowledge within the function of project engineering management.

Work Site Expectations

5 days in office
Travel: 10% potential

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).
