Engineering Manager, Projects

About the role

The Engineering Manager, Projects / Staff Equipment Engineer (Engineer Level 4) will work onsite at our state of the art Innovation and Manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, NC. They will support engineering projects in a multi-functional environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, arrangement, assembly, installation and commissioning of process and packaging equipment lines.
• Propose, measure, analyze, design, evaluate and implement best improvement options for machines, processes and mechanisms.
• Cook with in-house manufacturing and contract manufacturers to ensure that the process and packaging systems and procedures provide consistent operating conditions and the safety and integrity of finished products.
• Identify and solve problems with both components, materials and machinery processes in coordination with Quality, Production, Operations, Maintenance, vendors and OEMs.
• Draft protocols and execute packaging line and process capability trials in support of commercial deployment of systems.
• Support validation/qualification line work, including FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ & PQ, at HLF facility or outside partners to ensure machinery and processes meet all requirements.
• Develop SOPs to ensure processes consistently meet all required operating standards for processing and packaging and.
• Add additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Skills: Technical skills with the ability to understand formulations/process/procedures. Ability to frame and solve practical problems, carry them to conclusion and communicate results professionally and effectively in written and oral form. Proficient understanding of mechanical and automation systems and how they function. Experience solving issues with mechanical systems. Proficient in reading technical blueprints, schematics, mechanical and electrical drawings. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment and be a strong team player at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity. Initiative to learn the Herbalife business model and the motivations/reasons for business initiatives. Solid understanding of GMPs and other regulatory requirements. Proficient with computer software including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe. Ability to independently manage small projects to meet budget, quality and timing objectives. Ability to handle multiple activities and organize workload for effective implementation. Experience: Demonstrated effective machine design experience. Exposure to HACCP/AIB, CFR 21. Skilled machining and fabrication ability. Powder blending and packaging experience. Liquid blending and packaging experience. Tea blending and packaging experience.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automation, Food, Bioprocess, or Agricultural Engineering. Preferred Qualifications: Experience: Demonstrated effective machine design experience. Exposure to HACCP/AIB, CFR 21. Skilled machining and fabrication ability. Powder blending and packaging experience. Liquid blending and packaging experience. Tea blending and packaging experience. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automation, Food, Bioprocess, or Agricultural Engineering.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Leads project teams of engineers, technicians, contractors/ temporary employees and supervises contractors/ temporary employees.
