Job Summary

Siemens is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Power Protection & Automation Engineering Development Program (EDP). The EDP is a rotational program designed to develop recent engineering graduates through technical training, hands-on field rotations, project exposure, report-outs, and mentorship across Protection and Automation.

About the Role

This hybrid position is based at Siemens' corporate headquarters in Wendell, NC. The role supports the day-to-day management of the EDP, coaches and mentors participants, provides technical guidance, coordinates training schedules, field rotations, and deployment plans, partners with Power Academy and mentors to improve technical curriculum, tracks participant performance, and drives continuous improvement of the EDP curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of the Power Protection & Automation EDP.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop EDP participants throughout their rotational experience.
  • Provide technical guidance to help participants build deeper knowledge in substation protection, automation, relay applications, controls, communications, FATs, SATs, commissioning, and field execution.
  • Care for the technical and professional development of EDP participants.
  • Coordinate training schedules, field rotations, site assignments, report-outs, and deployment plans in partnership with Engineering Managers and project teams.
  • Partner with Power Academy, mentors, and domain experts to improve technical curriculum, hands-on learning, and program consistency.
  • Track participant performance, indicators, safety, field readiness, employee-overtime, and development progress.
  • Support mentors and field teams by helping reinforce technical expectations, learning objectives, and development plans for each participant.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and selection activities for future EDP cohorts.
  • Create an environment where early-career engineers feel supported, challenged, and prepared for long-term engineering roles within PPA.

Requirements

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field.
    • Three (3) or more years of experience in power systems, MV or HV switchgear, power protection and automation, controls, commissioning, field service, or technical project execution.
    • Experience leading, mentoring, coaching, or developing engineers or technical employees with or without direct reportees.
    • Working knowledge of protection relays, commissioning, field execution, switchgear testing, Field Acceptance Tests, and Site Acceptance Tests.
    • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
    • Able to manage multiple participants, deployments, schedules, collaborators, priorities, critical metrics, and development plans.
    • Able and willing to travel up to 15% domestically.
    • Must be physically in the Wendell, NC office 2+ days a week.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems focus.
    • Prior experience with substations.

Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary range of $83,966 to $143,942 with a 5% bonus potential.
