General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft, tactical reconnaissance radars, and advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our MQ-9 COCO team in Poway, CA. This role reports to the Engineering Director for MQ-9 Emerging Programs and focuses on the technical aspects of Company Owned Company Operated (COCO) programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all engineering project activities, including planning and execution to meet quality, business, and financial objectives.
  • Oversee current, annual, and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business, and financial goals for the engineering unit(s).
  • Participate in establishing design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, testing, and integration.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical and scheduling issues, serving as the primary engineering contact.
  • Support proposal preparation, business plans, work statements, specifications, operating budgets, and financial contract terms.
  • Ensure technical leadership and excellence by attracting, selecting, retaining, and developing professional and technical talent.
  • Lead progress review sessions to address technical performance and engineering-related cost and schedule impacts.
  • Identify engineering issues and provide leadership in developing solutions, including resource reallocation or priority adjustments.
  • Participate in developing new business opportunities and expanding existing ones within the COCO business area.
  • Coordinate with MQ-9B Core Development and IRAD teams to ensure proper capabilities and technologies are delivered to COCO customers.
  • Maintain security of proprietary technology and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and safety procedures in company operations.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in engineering or a related technical field, along with eleven or more years of progressively complex engineering experience. Equivalent experience may substitute for education.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice, as well as project management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with departments, management, staff, customers, and government representatives.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Professional Engineering License and published works in professional engineering journals are desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.

Pay

Salary range: $125,810 - $229,670
