Engineering Manager

Description

Uplight is creating a new category of energy. We make software that manages energy resources in homes and businesses—including things like smart thermostats, electric vehicles, solar panels, storage batteries, heat pumps, and even people’s behavior—to generate, shift, or save energy to balance the grid, making it more efficient and reliable. This creates clean energy capacity that can be used by the power grid instead of burning more fossil fuels. Our solutions accelerate the transition to clean energy and save money for energy customers.

About the role

You’ll deliver high-impact software with a focus on developing people and fostering a healthy team culture. You’ll lead 11 team members in 2 teams to help utilities adopt greener energy practices. You’ll be very customer focused. You’ll help evolve our tech stack and make data-driven decisions (DORA, delivery metrics, user feedback, system reliability) to improve our solutions. You’ll balance technical trade-offs with business needs to help us iteratively deliver our solutions. You’ll have a say in the choices we make for the product, the team, and where to invest our engineering staff. You’ll demonstrate empathy for our customers, users, and fellow Uplighters including your staff. Their career growth will flourish as you help coach and guide them. You’ll build in a Databricks environment on AWS and help us decide what our technical strategy should be. You’ll share our technical vision with the team, our customers, and the rest of Uplight to demonstrate your knowledge of the systems so we can all build better software together.

Benefits

At Uplight, we offer a competitive salary range of $161,000 to $185,000 plus bonus. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package including:

Pay

The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
