What You'll Do
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of backend, data, and platform engineers
- Stay hands-on: review architecture, write code, unblock hard technical problems, and set technical direction
- Run 1:1s, performance reviews, and hiring for your team
- Raise the bar on code quality, testing, and CI/CD practices across the team
- Improve engineering processes: on-call rotation, incident response, and code review standards
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping customer-facing web applications
- 2+ years directly managing engineers
- Expertise in Python backend frameworks (FastAPI or similar), including async/await patterns and relational databases
- Solid understanding of SQL, ORMs, query optimization, and performance tuning
- Proven experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and safe, frequent deployment practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication in a remote-first environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing remote teams
- Interest or experience in high-performance computing and GPU infrastructure
- Experience deploying and scaling apps on AWS or other cloud platforms
- Prior experience at an early- or growth-stage startup
