Responsibilities
- Manage teams consisting of 4-10 total software engineers working on real-time data collection, processing, streaming, data warehousing, and automated analysis.
- Foster a healthy team culture of trust, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and career development for team members.
- Guide team planning, own delivery commitments, and own execution quality.
- Contribute hands-on to the design and problem solving for our services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system architecture and integration with other platform components.
- Drive improvements in reliability, performance, and observability of our telemetry stack.
- Partner with Product Managers and other Engineering Managers to define roadmap and priorities.
- Partner closely with related teams including our data science team, other engineering teams, and other similar teams.
- Represent your team(s) in architecture reviews and planning sessions.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide regular status updates on progress.
- Seek feedback and drive changes to improve our processes.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with 2+ years in a management role.
- Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, Javascript, or Java.
- Comfortable with agile development methodologies and managing projects using tools like Jira or similar.
- Strong technical understanding of backend services, APIs, distributed systems, data pipelines, and production operations.
- Experience with cloud-native engineering practices, including Kubernetes, containers, Helm, Docker, CI/CD, and Linux-based service deployment.
- Familiarity with LLM-based systems, inference services, agentic AI workflows, or AI-assisted operations.
- Strong experience in building distributed systems or telemetry/observability infrastructure.
- Experience with AI technologies such as LLM fine tuning, classifiers, embeddings, etc.
- Solid understanding of metrics, logs, traces, and time-series data processing.
- Experience with OpenTelemetry (Otel) for collecting and exporting telemetry data.
- Familiarity with cloud-native environments.
- Experience working in AI platform, machine learning infrastructure, automation, observability, or operational intelligence organizations.
- Experience with ClickHouse, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry Collector, Kubernetes operators, Helm charts, or telemetry data modeling.
- Prior experience in managing high-scale telemetry systems in SaaS or infrastructure-focused companies.
- Experience with other observability platforms or projects.
