Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership and Standards

  • Define and maintain Miba engineering standards in line with market requirements and company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Lead and develop the engineering team, including workload distribution, capability development, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Coordinate engineering roles, including designers, project engineers, product engineers, and SAP standards.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, engineering change notices, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Act as the internal technical advisor to the MHC management team.
  • Represent Miba as a technical spokesperson in discussions with customers and external partners.
  • Drive technical solutions throughout the Miba organization and communicate them clearly to customers.

Product Development and Customer Support

  • Act as the primary technical interface for customers during new product launches, prototype manufacturing, customer testing, and APQP activities.
  • Work closely with customers to understand application requirements and develop appropriate technical solutions.
  • Design and troubleshoot customer products and the associated Miba manufacturing processes.
  • Support customer projects, product clinics, testing activities, and technical reviews.
  • Provide technical support to sales and other internal departments.
  • Keep management and sales teams informed about customer projects and technical developments.
  • Develop knowledge of customers’ brake, clutch, and AWD friction systems.
  • Travel to customers, suppliers, and other Miba locations as required.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and at the appropriate level of detail, both verbally and in writing.

Technical Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with Frictec R&D and global technology engineering to resolve technical issues and address customer and plant requirements.
  • Lead the MHC COC team, including activities, data collection, analysis, and conclusions.
  • Lead PFMEA and DVP&R activities as required.
  • Set DVP&R validation targets for new business development projects.
  • Support APQP teams and manufacturing engineering activities.
  • Set and monitor process parameters and define corrective actions where required.
  • Support the Quality department with root-cause analysis, issue resolution, and technical information.
  • Assist with the investigation of product failures and defects, including failures identified during customer testing or in the field.
  • Lead product clinics internally and with customers.
  • Develop and communicate cost-reduction opportunities in cooperation with customers and manufacturing teams.
  • Provide design-to-cost leadership.
  • Generate initial design layouts and technical input for Product Engineering.
  • Scout system-level technology trends in relevant target business segments.
  • Provide R&D with information about current and future technical requirements.
  • Evaluate technical information and summarize facts in accurate, concise reports.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
  • Several years of experience in engineering, product development, manufacturing, or a related industrial environment.
  • Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating cross-functional technical activities.
  • Strong knowledge of product development, APQP, PFMEA, DVP&R, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Experience working directly with customers on technical requirements, product launches, testing, and problem resolution.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems, environmental legislation, waste management, and audit processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and concise conclusions.
  • Confident communication skills with customers, management, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Proficiency in common business software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with CAD, Minitab, SAP, and other engineering software is an advantage.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; additional languages are an advantage.
