Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a BS degree in manufacturing engineering or related field and minimum of five years of experience leading engineers in a manufacturing industry. Preferred candidates will have experience in sheet metal bending and fabrication, ISO (9000 and 14000) compliant operations and lean/ six sigma certification. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge and Experience
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, design and model creation using CAD and solid modeling software (Solid Works preferred)
- Formal training and/or experience creating manufacturing processes that prioritize operator safety
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to facilitate group problem solving and implementation activities
- Demonstrated expertise in identifying and integrating cutting-edge engineering methodologies and design trends
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization professionally
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Accountabilities and Essential Functions
- Model Core Values
- Train, assign work, monitor results, mentor, and provide feedback and development opportunities to direct reports
- Develop, establish, and implement long-range and short-term strategies and operating policies to achieve established departmental goals and objectives
- Develop and submit reports to the Executive Team as to current status of projects, compliance to schedules, and budget maintenance
- Daily manufacturing engineering support
- Confer with management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
- Prioritize Operations by ensuring they are always equipped and supported with the technical expertise required
- Process improvement / Root cause identification- manufacturing process
- Review customer designs and make recommendations to improve design, reduce cost, or increase production efficiency (Design for Manufacturability)
- Program engineering
- Direct and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team, focusing on Bills of Materials (BOMs), Bills of Operations (BOOs), Product value stream flow and profitability
- Determine engineering hours and project costs to provide project estimates used in the development of quotes
- Support NPI
- Collaborate cross functionally within NPI process for customer programs and projects
- Manage the successful transition of new products and technology into the Operations organization
