Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, software) in delivering high-impact design projects that meet safety, cost, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals. Report to the General Manager with functional guidance from the VP of Engineering Programs and close collaboration with Product Management.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute the engineering roadmap, translating business goals into clear priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
- Oversee end-to-end engineering execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality and customer requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, operations, and leadership to define requirements and deliver manufacturable solutions.
- Recruit, lead, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, setting clear expectations and building technical and leadership capabilities.
- Allocate resources across projects, balance workloads, and keep the team focused on the highest-impact priorities.
- Manage engineering budgets and track key performance metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
- Champion engineering best practices, lead root-cause problem-solving, and improve processes for efficiency and product reliability.
- Proactively identify risks, drive mitigation plans, and communicate effectively with senior leadership to keep projects on track.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering, or a closely related field (required).
- Master of Science in Engineering or MBA highly preferred.
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a people-leadership role managing multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget.
- Minimum 2+ years experience in a technical customer-contact role.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial-product environment strongly preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in 3D CAD systems including CATIA and Autodesk Inventor.
- Familiarity with engineering change-management processes (ECR, TCF, HAZOP, FMEA, Design Control).
- Working knowledge of Stage-Gate product-development processes and Agile or Lean engineering methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with project-management and ERP tools preferred.
- Proven ability to build, coach, and develop high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong conflict-resolution, influencing, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, drive decisions under uncertainty, and handle multiple concurrent projects.
