Engineering Manager - Americas
About the role
As an Engineering Manager at Ashby, you will work closely with the leadership team to build and scale the engineering team. You will manage three to five engineers and hire three to five more, covering multiple teams and various specializations such as product engineers, site reliability engineers, and design engineers. Your responsibilities will include providing feedback on product and technical specs, coaching engineers to reach the right decisions, growing engineers to handle large, loosely defined projects, and jumping into systems to debug issues or improve developer experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide feedback on product and technical specs to help engineers identify where to cut scope or improve quality.
- Influence and coach engineers to reach the right decisions.
- Grow engineers to the point where they can take large, loosely defined projects and deliver them with little intervention.
- Jump into our systems and code to debug a customer issue, ship a small bug fix, or improve our developer experience.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have experience leading a team of engineers, a strong background in engineering, and a passion for fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. You should also have experience in hiring and developing engineers, and a deep understanding of the engineering process and its impact on product development.
