About the role
We are looking for an experienced engineer who has built impressive products and now leads teams of great engineers. Ashby is doubling its Engineering team in the next year, and we need your experience and leadership to help us grow thoughtfully.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the leadership team to build and manage the team, fostering a unique engineering culture.
- Manage a team of 3-5 engineers and hire 3-5 more, covering multiple teams and specializations including Product Engineers, Site Reliability Engineers, and Design Engineers.
- Provide feedback on product and technical specs to help engineers identify areas for improvement.
- Coach and grow engineers to the point where they can take on large, complex projects independently.
- Debug customer issues, ship bug fixes, and improve the developer experience.
- Propose and lead department and company-wide initiatives to improve Ashby's engineering practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading a team of engineers.
- Experience building and shipping impactful products.
- Strong technical skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Passion for fostering a positive and innovative engineering culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Pay
Salary range: $150,000 - $200,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
