About the role
The Engineering/Maintenance Manager – 1st Shift reports to a Plant Manager and works in Atlanta, GA. McCormick & Company, a global leader in flavor, seeks an individual who will manage the Maintenance department, Process Engineering, Project Engineering, and outside building contractors.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day activities of Maintenance department, Process Engineering, Project Engineering, and outside building contractors.
- Set goals, priorities, monitor progress, and evaluate performance of staff to ensure the maximum benefit of the resources expended.
- Create an empowered environment (MHPS), ensuring that the Engineering & Maintenance organization and its people understand the goals and objectives of the business and have the resources and support to accomplish them.
- Establish an environment that ensures and supports open and healthy communications.
- Prepare and manage Capital Asset Acquisition Proposal (CAAP) annual budget.
- Avoid unnecessary project costs by reviewing data to ensure that results are achievable and obtaining necessary approvals.
- Closely monitor projects to ensure they are completed as planned and that funds are utilized properly.
- Initiate design changes and modifications to improve machine efficiency, facilitate packaging design changes, and reduce costs, and expand the capability of existing equipment to handle new products.
- Develop both strategic capital plans, ensuring an acceptable return on investment for replacing worn or obsolete equipment, expanding capacity to meet sales growth, modifying equipment for packaging changes or cost reduction, and developing expanded productive capacity for new products.
- Select, design, and layout processing and packaging machinery to ensure efficiency, optimal space utilization, and adequate production capacity.
- Ensure all engineering and maintenance processes are completely documented (including Capital start up plans, SOPs, DOPs, and run documents), and implement any changes to these processes.
- Meet all regulatory requirements pertaining to waste disposal, air emissions, and facilities permits and codes.
- Ensure safety and security measures are in place for the facility, including maintaining sprinkler systems meeting fire code and insurance carrier requirements, installing fire fighting equipment, and maintaining an internal alarm and evacuation system.
- Manage operating budget for Engineering, Facilities, and Maintenance.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering or maintenance management.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards.
- Experience with project management and budgeting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
