Engineering Intern
About the Role
Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as an Engineering Intern. The Engineering Intern will be asked to perform a variety of entry level technical duties as needed to assist in the preparation, review, and maintenance of engineering/quality documents, and create ad hoc reports. The candidate will utilize their field of study (chemical, industrial, electrical, mechanical, civil) degree paths to bring critical-thinking skills into the role and to gain hands-on experience in the assigned internship. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of the Process Engineer Manager and the Process Engineer.
This role will be onsite working in a hybrid work format, with a requirement to be in the corporate office in Lexington, KY. This is an on-site internship from May 2027 - August 2027 and will need to sit in Lexington, KY.
Responsibilities
- Optimization of the current processes assigned by the Manager Process Engineering, VP of North American Operations, or Process Improvement Engineer.
- Work on enhancing operational equipment efficiency (OEE)
- Create or modify standard operating procedures (SOP's)
- Perform line and process audits utilizing the plants Quality Management System (QMS)
- Assist in writing authorization for expenditures (AFE's)
- Engage in time motion studies
- Participate in various assigned meetings, teams, and initiatives that support the operations and quality systems of the manufacturing facilities.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
Requirements
- Applicant must be a student attending classes at a university/college studying chemical, industrial, electrical, mechanical, civil engineering
- Must have strong attention to detail and excellent math skills.
- Must be able to multi-task and willing to work in a very fast paced environment
- Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc)
- Lean Tools
- Ability to compile and record data accurately.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills (Phone, IM, Email, in person)
- Organization skills
- Proactively identifies improvements to processes, systems, and documentation.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Laboratory environment. Some light lifting.
Environment: Temperature controlled indoors in mostly office area but also varies in manufacturing portion of facility.
