Primary Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a team of engineers.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence within the engineering team.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
- Oversee all design engineering projects, ensuring they are completed within budget, schedule, and quality parameters.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands and priorities.
- Ensure appropriate procedures, codes, and standards are followed in design basis changes and analytical work.
- Ensure engineers and supervisors demonstrate appropriate quality and rigor in design and analysis activities
- Govern design engineering processes, practices, and procedures to industry best practices.
- Ensure that all design activities comply with relevant nuclear safety and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to address compliance issues and implement necessary changes.
- Identify potential design risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain safety and reliability standards.
- Drive innovation in design engineering practices and technologies to enhance plant performance and safety.
- Champion initiatives for process improvement and cost optimization.
- Work closely with operations, safety, maintenance, and other departments to align design efforts with overall plant goals and objectives.
- Provide technical expertise and support for plant modifications and upgrades.
Requirements
- BS Degree in Engineering or other scientific discipline generally associated with power plant operations or Equivalent Experience. (Equivalent Experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Manager level. A degree is very strongly preferred.)
- 8 years’ experience in nuclear power design, construction, maintenance, operations, P&SO, or equivalent. 5 years of supervisory/management experience in an operating nuclear power plant environment.
- SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR (desired).
- Professional engineering license (desired).
- Candidates must meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978. ANSI Section 4.2.4 - Technical Manager. 8 years responsible positions related to power generation, of which 3 years shall be nuclear power plant experience. A maximum of 2 years of the remaining 6 years’ experience may be fulfilled by satisfactory completion of academic or related technical training.
