About the role
Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to ensure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system-level evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Collects data, reviews, coordinates, and conducts a variety of test procedures across various ship systems.
- Provides hands-on deck plate support.
- Provides technical guidance and troubleshooting instructions by evaluating vendor furnished equipment, drawings, and test procedure requirements.
- Ensures the test program is completed within schedule demands.
- Contributes to the operational validation of ship systems through the development, management, and execution of an integrated safety, test, and work control program for non-nuclear systems across all Newport News Shipbuilding product lines.
- Works closely with the team to ensure the United States Navy has the most advanced submarines in the world while contributing to the company’s success of delivering quality boats to the US Navy.
Requirements
Must have an ABET Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s degree and 0 years of relevant professional experience; or Professional Development Program (PDP) NNS Apprentice Certificate.
Qualifications
- Interest in a hands-on experience working with shipboard systems aboard Nuclear Powered Submarines while undergoing construction/repair.
- Leadership, teamwork, and a questioning attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to climb on and around ships including stairs, ladders, masts, and scaffolding.
- Willingness to work around moving machinery at heights and in confined or restricted spaces on vessels undergoing construction/repair.
Skills
Must have a strong understanding of shipboard systems and operations. Expertise in design, installation, and operation of ship systems is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.

$90,000.00 to $110,000.00
Schedule
Full-time shift with 10%-25% travel requirement.
